“This was my favourite activity we did during our stay- admittedly we were lucky enough to see the northern lights mid sleigh ride! Our Guide (I think Ant Sophie/ sorry if wrong) was excellent and made us feel so at ease and was so welcoming with information about the reindeers. “To the managing Director Apukka adventures. It is to my great dismay that on 29 January 2023, we attended a reindeer sledge ride at approximately 2 pm. It was extraordinarily distressing and traumatic for all concerned. I question that the reindeers have been abused, as they were very distressed, trying to get put into the sledge and then walking in a straight line. Resulting from this distress and query mal treatment of these animals several reindeers got tangled in the ropes of the sledges, jumping and butting each other ,sledges overturned ,people in the sledges were thrown out, and several sledges were broken. “The tour itself was lovely and peaceful. We had a lovely Reindeer ride in the dark in the woods. We then cooked sausage over the campfire and got to feed and stroke the Reindeer. It was very lovely. However viator told us to be at the pickup point at 1950. No-one turned up. We rang the company to be told the pickup was 1940. We were also told that the hotel we were waiting at was not the pickup point. “We booked through Viator weeks in advance to our trip. The day of the activity our tour was at 12, pick up per the app was 11:10. We went to the pick up point per the pin drop provided on the app. By 11:30 we called Appuka resort & explained we had still not been collected to which they advised the bus had left.
