“This tour doesn't make much sense if you're starting from Rovaniemi. It's a very long drive and the activity itself is way too short. You spend a whole day on it. The guide is basically just there for transportation. We were picked up in an old car with a broken door and were indirectly criticized by the guide for opening the door too wide because they would then have to pay for the repairs themselves. We found that really unpleasant. Of course, we didn't do it on purpose. This incident left us with an unpleasant feeling, so we no longer felt comfortable. It was great for beginners. For those who wanted to go faster, we could also let her know, and she would adjust accordingly. But beware of others who signs up in your group which may not be as seasoned cyclists. But all in all, it was SO much fun!!!! A must do in Saariselkä if you like a little bit of activity! “We were very disappointed with this tour. Miguel was friendly and picked us up from the hotel. Contrary to the description of the activity, this was not a river tour. We were driven to a lake about 30-40 minutes outside of Rovaniemi, where we were given a single kayak. These were not canoes either. After that, we were left to paddle alone on the lake for 2 hours at sunset. It was not a guided tour, and we didn’t learn anything about the area or Finnish culture. Additionally, there was no hot drink provided. After paddling around on our own, we were driven straight back home. For us, it was…”
